Conversion
candidates called
By Liesl Fores
“It’s a good feeling. They were encouraging words,”
remarked candidate Andrea DeIuliis on Archbishop John J. Myers’
homily during the Call to Continuing Conversion on March 8 at the
Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
The services brought together 825 candidates from all four counties
in the Archdiocese. Most have been baptized Catholic but have not
received Confirmation and/or Holy Communion and wish to complete
their initiation into the Church. Others have been baptized in another
Christian community and are seeking reception into full communion
of the Catholic Church.

Stewardship,
evangelization and trust in the Lord
By Andrew Kaczynski
During March our Church celebrates the lives of two great men in
our faith’s history, Saint Patrick, Bishop (March 17) and
St. Joseph, husband of Mary (March 19), who both led lives of exemplary
stewardship, using their time and talent to evangelize and submit
by example complete trust in the Lord. Since there is great devotion
to both of these saints in our archdiocese, and since “Stewardship
and Evangelization” is our theme for this year, I thought
that highlighting their lives and how they lived as Christian stewards
would be a great topic for this issue. The information contained
in this article was obtained from Steward Saints for Every Day,
written by Sharon Hueckel, and published by the International Catholic
Stewardship Council.
