Archbishop
John J. Myers proclaimed the week of October
1-6, 2002 as Hispanic Heritage Week after recognizing
the presence of close to half a million brothers
and sisters of Hispanic origin and their faith,
devotion and love for our local church.
It
was a week of many presentations and great exhibits
of folkloric art, music, customs and traditions
from twenty one Latin American countries and
Spain. “As we begin this third millennium,
we have a great challenge and responsibility
to live out and promote a spirituality of communion”
said Maricela Quintana, Director of the Hispanic
Apostolate Office in 2002. |
