Marist High School, 1241 Kennedy Blvd., Bayonne, recently cited the achievements of its three Bloustein Scholars (left to right): Diana Betancur, Karina Rae Sabas and Nick Silva. Brother Steve Schlitte is the principal of Marist High School, which was founded in 1954 and is owned and operated by the Marist Brothers of the Schools, an international religious congregation of educators with schools in over 70 countries.

NEWARK-The Schools' Office of the Archdiocese of Newark has released the names of the academic year's Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars.

To qualify for the academic honor, students must place in the top 10 percent of their class and have a minimum combined SAT score of 1260 (critical reasoning and math), or are ranked first, second or third in their class, as of the end of their junior year. The 187 Distinguished Scholars for the 2008-2009 academic year received award offers of up to $1,000 annually.
