The Cathedral Concert Series Announces its 41st Season
The Cathedral Concert Series, which for four decades has celebrated musical and cultural arts that inspire multitudes to praise and worship God, will begin its 41st season of Sunday and Holy Day/Holiday concerts in the beautiful and historic Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark’s North Ward, adjacent to Branch Brook Park, on Sunday, September 20, 2009 and run through May 7, 2010. This year, the series will again offer a weekday track of organ recitals, “Wednesdays at Noon.” These weekly recitals last approximately 30 minutes and conclude with a tour of the Cathedral Basilica.
The Cathedral Basilica proudly maintains the largest church organ in the Garden State, as well as the largest instrument manufactured by the Schantz Organ Company. Having recently commemorated the Schantz 154 rank/10,000 pipe organ’s fifty years of service to the Cathedral, the Cathedral Concert Series is expanding in new directions.
It is our sincere hope that concertgoers will be inspired and their spirits fulfilled by the artistry of the performances.
