ORDINATION DAY

Archbishop John J. Myers ordained the 12 members of the Class of 2010 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark, on May 29.

Three of the new priests hail from the Archdiocese of Newark; other members of the Class of 2010 come from Colombia, Portugal, the Philippines, the Dominican Republic, Serbia and Nicaragua. In his homily, Archbishop Myers addressed the new priests, citing “the wonder of grace and the wonder of life in Christ.” He said the new priests were “completely surrounded by the grace of God. We hear the Word of God today. We are touched by the hand of God from the beginning.” The new priests, he declared, have been called by God “to be servant leaders of Christ.
