This lovely oil is one of four lunettes that once graced the presidium above the altar of the
Saint John’s
Church ,
Newark . Originally part of a second interior renovation that occurred around the turn of the century, all four oils where removed and placed in storage by the parish. Recently discovered in a storage area of the parish, all four paintings have been professionally restored and framed. Though their artist and studio of origin is unknown, the oils are identical to ones found in American Catholic parishes from the late Victorian period.
