A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Oct. 13 at Saint Mary Parish, Rahway, for Rev. Harold T. Hermanns, 87, who died Oct. 7.
 
Born in Jersey City, Fr. Hermanns lived in Nutley and Rahway before moving to Rutherford. He attended Seton Hall University, South Orange and Immaculate Conception Seminary, Darlington. He was ordained May 29, 1954.
 
A World War II veteran, Fr. Hermanns served the community of Saint Mary Parish, Rahway, for 45 years as parochial vicar, moderator of the Holy Name Society, Nocturnal Adoration Society and served in many capacities within the church community.
 
Fr. Hermanns was also the chaplain for the Rahway police and fire departments.
