Math Academy returns to the Archdiocese of Newark

More than 150 elementary and secondary Catholic school teachers and administrators from the five New Jersey Roman Catholic dioceses- Newark, Camden, Metuchen, Paterson and Trenton- will gather for "Math Academy 2000" at Seton Hall University, South Orange, Wednesday, March 15, 2000.

This half-day event, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark Schools Office, will run from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Keynote speaker Dr. Steve Krulik, a professor of mathematics at Temple University, will discuss "A New Look at Problem Solving."

Also offered at this program will be break out sessions in the four different divisions of teaching: primary, middle, upper elementary, and secondary. At these sessions teachers will learn about grade-appropriate techniques that they can apply to their everyday lessons.

After the break out sessions, representatives from publisher William H. Sadlier, Inc. will offer a workshop on the 2000 Edition of Progress in Mathematics.
