New York Giants and Archdiocese of Newark Youth Celebrate Lent Together Members of the New York Giants have teamed up with the CYO/ Youth and Young Adult Ministry from the Archdiocese of Newark to host a day retreat, Saturday, March 31, 2000. Beginning at 9 a.m., the Lenten Day Retreat will feature games, personal testimonies, skits, a Reconciliation Prayer Service and a question and answer period with the Giants, all before the retreat closing at 5 p.m. The youth attending the retreat will have the opportunity to submit questions for a panel discussion later in the day. Participating in the panel discussion will be New York Giant Greg Comella and Fr. Richard Corbett. Fr. Corbett is the Acting Executive Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Chaplain to the New York Giants. The Seton Hall Retreat Team, called the 12 Apostles, will also be in attendance. They are a group of young adults from Seton Hall who developed a retreat team and go into many parishes throughout the Archdiocese to do retreats. Under the leadership of the Director of Campus Ministry for Seton Hall, the retreat team meets weekly to pray for teens and to support one another. Of the lenten retreat, Caroline Gambale, Archdiocesan Director of Youth Ministry, said "What I love about this retreat is that the teens have a great time while learning more about their faith. They usually arrive thinking they are going to be bored to death and leave feeling like this was the best experience of their life. I owe the success of this retreat to the Giants, the retreat team, and mostly God." Archdiocesan teens in grades 9- 12 are welcome to attend the retreat at the Kearny Youth Center, 499 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, NJ.
