Mass for Health Care Workers to be held at Cathedral Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick will honor Catholic health care professionals at a Mass for Health Care Workers at 12 noon, Sunday, April 2, 2000, at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, 89 Ridge St., Newark. During the Mass, the Archbishop will present the Jubilee Medal, Pro Meritis, to a number of Catholic physicians, nurses, and health care administrators from Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union Counties who have displayed extraordinary care and skill in their field. The presentation honors their dedication to the Catholic mission and their commitment to providing care to people in the Archdiocese of Newark. At previous Masses for Health Care Workers, Archbishop McCarrick has presented a Jubilee Medal to two representatives serving in hospitals in each county of the Archdiocese, a total of eight awards. This year, in honor of the Jubilee Year, the Archbishop will be presenting a medal to one staff member of each hospital in the Archdiocese. "I look forward to this occasion to say thank you to those who have shown compassion and care for our sisters and brothers in our health care institutions," Archbishop McCarrick said. The many Catholic physicians, nurses and health care workers who labor in non-Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese and beyond its borders are all invited to attend, since they too are members of the Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Newark.
