Archdiocese of Newark Establishes Local Chapter of National Association of Pastoral Musicians
The Archdiocese of Newark is pleased to announce the establishment of a local chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. The NPM is a non-profit organization for professionals, volunteers and others working toward the renewal of the liturgical life of the church. More than 9,000 musicians and clergy nationally are actively involved in this important effort to foster the art of pastoral music. The Archdiocese has 325 members in its new local chapter.

There will be two NPM events in the coming months. The first, "The Importance of the Role of the Music Minister While Energizing and Revitalizing Volunteer Musicians," will be on April 18, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 40 Spring St., Lodi. The second, "A Choral Reading Session," will be on May 20, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave., Bloomfield.

"Membership to the National Association of Pastoral Musicians will be an enriching resource for musicians and liturgists throughout the Archdiocese of Newark," commented John Miller, Music Coordinator and Chapter Director for the Archdiocese of Newark.

Anyone may become a member of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians by registering in person at either of the events listed above, registering online at www.npm.org, or calling the organization's national office at 202-723-5800 to request a membership brochure.
