Archdiocese of Newark Celebrates "One Chosen and Called in Christ"
Jubilee Day for Single Persons set for April 27, 2000

The Jubilee Day for Single Persons will be celebrated Thursday, April 27, 2000, 7:30 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 30 N. Fullerton Ave., Montclair, NJ. A special evening to celebrate the gifts of single people in Society and the Church, this first-time event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark Office of Family Life Ministries and the Office of Young Adult Ministry.

This Jubilee Day has a twofold purpose: to celebrate the gift of single people in society and the Church, and to draw attention to the needs and gifts of single people in the Catholic faith community. The evening's theme, "One Chosen and Called to Christ," emphasizes that the gifts single persons have to offer and the mission they have in the world- to bring the light of Christ to the world by living out the Gospel message.

Director of Young Adult Ministry Joanne DePasquale Parent said, "It is so important for all people to know that they are valued and loved by the Church, but this is especially important for single persons who often feel neglected by the Church. This special Jubilee Day demonstrates how much single persons are loved, valued, and honored for the many contributions they make and have made to society and the Church."

The evening will begin with a Mass celebrated by Msgr. Louis Fimiani, Archdiocesan Vicar for Pastoral Life. Following the Mass, keynote speaker Marianne Kehoe, M.Div., LCSW will be speaking about the evening's theme, "One Chosen and Called to Christ." She is the Program Director at Xavier Center in Convent Station, NJ and a licensed clinical social worker, with a private counseling practice in Cranford, NJ. She has been involved in Retreat Work and Religious Education for 27 years.
