May 23, 2017

On Saturday, May 27, seven men will be ordained to the priesthood for service to the Archdiocese of Newark. The Ordination will take place beginning at noon in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, 89 Ridge Street in Newark. Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, will be the celebrant. This will be his first Archdiocesan priesthood ordination as Archbishop of Newark.

Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Newark will join thousands of Catholic cemeteries nationwide in the commemoration, "Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes," by celebrating Memorial Day Mass on Monday, May 29, at 11:00 A.M., at local cemeteries and parishes.

On Friday, May 5, representatives of the Tri-State Italian-American Congress will present $25,000 in scholarships to a group of students of Italian heritage from 25 Catholic elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Newark. The awards will be presented in a ceremony in the Auditorium of the Archdiocesan Center, 171 Clifton Avenue, Newark, beginning at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, May 11th, 2017, The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children will host their 34th Annual Gala...The Scholarship Fund will honor Tony and Christie de Nicola with their Vitae Discimus Award and Jack Walton will receive the Archbishop Peter L. Gerety Award for their unwavering advocacy for Catholic schools and tireless efforts to lift children in low-income urban communities through “The Gift of Education."
