Archbishop Myers today announced that Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, which had been slated to close at the end of June because of declining enrollment and sagging finances in recent years, will now open for the 2016-2017 academic year.

As a result of efforts achieved to date by parents, students, faculty, and friends of Queen of Peace High School to raise $1 million to enable this parish-based high school to remain open for the 2016-17 year and to craft a plan for its long-term viability, Newark Archbishop John J. The Most Reverend John J. Myers has announced the appointment of eleven new members of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark. In making the announcement, Archbishop Myers noted that the diverse experience of the new members and their personal commitment to the underprivileged will enhance the mission and work of Catholic Charities during this Year of Mercy.

On Saturday, May 28, the Archdiocese of Newark again will rank among the top dioceses in the nation in terms of new priests when ten men are ordained to the priesthood for service in the Archdiocese. The Ordination will take place beginning at noon in the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, 89 Ridge Street in Newark.

For nearly 73 years, the body of Titanic hero Robert John Hopkins has rested in an unmarked grave in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City. Today, a polished black granite headstone bearing his name was unveiled by his family and blessed by Bishop John W. Flesey.
