El Arzobispo John J. Myers Ordenará Diez Sacerdotes Nuevos
Su Excelencia Reverendísima John J. Myers, Arzobispo de Newark, ordenará diez hombres al sacerdocio el sábado 25 de mayo, a las diez de la mañana en la Catedral Basílica del Sagrado Corazón, 89 Ridge St., Newark.  La Arquidiócesis de Newark de nuevo estará entre las clases más numerosas de todos los seminarios de la nación.

Seis de los seminaristas asistieron al Seminario de la Inmaculada Concepción en la universidad de Seton Hall en South Orange.  Los otros cuatro asistieron al seminario misionero de la Arquidiócesis de Newark, Redemptoris Mater, en Kearny, que es el centro de formación para muchos de los seminaristas extranjeros.

De los diez hombres que serán ordenados en la Arquidióceis de Newark este año, seis nacieron en paises extranjeros.  Su tierra natal incluye Colombia, Honduras, Italia, Nicaragua, Peru, y España, una diversidad que refleja la diversidad étnica y nacional de los cuatro condados de la Arquidiócesis de Newark - Bergen, Essex, Hudson, y Union.

Su Excelencia Reverendísima John J. Myers, Arzobispo de Newark, ha comentado sobre los seminaristas que va a ordenar este año: "La fe y el compromiso que estos hombres hagan hoy son bendiciones para la Iglesia de Newark y la Iglesia mundial."

"Ellos se unen a la Orden Sacerdotal de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, viniendo de caminos muy diferentes y con distintas experiencias.  En un tiempo cuando la Iglesia se halla frente a unas pruebas muy graves, la Iglesia adquiere consuelo de su presencia, sabiendo que su amor a Dios y Su gente, le dará fortaleza."

Varios de los sacerdotes nuevos celebrarán su primera Misa el día siguiente, domingo, 26 de mayo, en iglesias por todo la Arquidiócesis.  Los sacerdotes nuevos serán asignados a diferentes parroquias en junio.

Jorge Emilio Acosta Peña
Father Acosta Peña, 33, son of Jose Domingo Acosta and Ana Julia Peña, was born in Managua, Nicaragua. A graduate of Caldwell College, he spent two years in the military where he achieved the rank of sergeant. Rev. Acosta Peña served parishes in Jersey City, Union City, Grand Turk Island, and Estonia while studying at Redemptoris Mater Seminary.

He will celebrate his first Mass at St. Anne’s Church, Jersey City, Sunday, May 26, at 12 noon.

Gustavo Antonio Alfaro Zúñiga
Father Alfaro Zúñiga, 31, son of Luis Alfaro Flores and Camila Zúñiga de Alfaro, was born in Tegucugalpa MDC, Honduras. He has studied at Universidad Nacional Autonoma De Honduras and has a master’s degree in physics. While studying at Redemptoris Mater Seminary, Rev. Zúñiga served parishes in Cedar Grove, Caldwell, Union City and Garfield.

He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, May 26, at 11:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Virgin, Garfield.

John J. Galeano
Father Galeano, 35, son of Jose Manuel and Cecilia Galeano, was born in Columbia. A graduate of Seton Hall University, has his BA in philosophy and a BA in Fine Arts. Rev. Galeano served parishes in Jersey City, Cedar Grove, Ridgefield Park, and Elizabeth while studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary.

He will celebrate his first Mass in Spanish on Saturday, May 25, at 7 p.m., at St. Stephen, Paterson.

His first Mass in English at will be at Our Lady of Mercy, Jersey City, Sunday, May 26, at 4:15 p.m.

Tobías Rodríguez Lasa
Father Rodríguez Lasa, 37, son of Tobías and Ana María, was born in Barakaldo, Spain. A graduate of Universidad del Pais Vasco, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain and Trinitt College, Dublin, he has an MA in applied linguistics and has served in the military. Rev. Rodríguez served parishes in Caldwell, Elizabeth, and Union City while studying at Redemptoris Mater Seminary.

He will celebrate his first Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark, Sunday, May 26, at 10 a.m.

Marco Hurtado Olazo
Father Olazo, 34, son of Marco and Martha, was born in Cusco City, Cuso, Peru. He has studied at Saint Anthony Abbot University, Cusco. While studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Rev. Olazo served parishes in Newark, Elizabeth and Roselle.

He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, May 26, at 12 noon, at Saint Joseph the Carpenter, Roselle.

He first Mass in Spanish will be on Sunday June 2, at 10 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament, Elizabeth.

Ernest George Rush
Father Rush, 38, son of Louis and the late Catherine Jerkovich, was born in Jersey City, NJ. He has studied at St. Peter’s College and Thomas Edison State College and has a BA. While studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Rev. Rush served parishes in Jersey City, Palisades Park and Cedar Grove.

He will celebrate his first Mass on Saturday, May 25, at 5:30 p.m., at Holy Trinity, Hackensack.

Paul B. Sretenovic
Father Sretenovic, 28, son of Slobodan and Joyce Sretenovic, was born in Jersey City, NJ. A Seton Hall University graduate, he has an MA in sacred theology, and worked with the developmentally disabled at Our House, Inc., in Berkley Heights. Rev. Sretenovic served parishes in Kearny, Nutley and Bayonne while studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary.

He will celebrate his first Mass at Church of the Assumption, Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m.

Robert K. Suszko
Father Suszko, 47, son of Joseph and Helen Suszko, was born in Elizabeth, NJ. He has studied at the University of Scranton and Rutgers Graduate School of Business Administration, and has a BS in accounting and an MBA in finance. While studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Rev. Suszko served parishes in Caldwell, Elizabeth and Roselle Park.

He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, May 26, at 12 noon, at St. Agnes, Clark.

Stephen J. Toth
Father Toth, 36, son of Deacon William and Kathleen Toth, was born in New York, NY. A graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, Rev. Toth served parishes in Maplewood and Cranford while studying at Immaculate Conception Seminary.

He will celebrate his first Mass at St. Elizabeth’s, Wyckoff, Sunday, May 26, at 3 p.m.

Fabio Venturini
Father Venturini, 35, son of Sergio and Annamaria, was born in Rimini, Italy. He earned a physician’s degree from the University of Medicine, Bolopus, Italy. While studying at Redemptoris Mater Seminary, Rev. Venturini served parishes in West New York, Kearny and Bloomfield.

He will celebrate his first Mass on Sunday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas the Apostle, Bloomfield.
