Archbishop Myers to meet Young Adults at Mass & Barbecue in August
Archbishop John J. Myers will celebrate Mass and have the opportunity to meet Catholic Young Adults at the Annual Young Adult Mass & Barbecue on Sunday, August 11, 2002, noon to 7 p.m. at Schmidt's Woods in Secaucus. Catholic men and women, ages 18-39, from the four counties of the Archdiocese, Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union, are invited to attend.

Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Newark's Office of Young Adult Ministry since 1998, Immaculate Conception Church in Secaucus will co-sponsor the event this year. Mass will begin at 1 p.m., and will include music by the dynamic ministry group, Grace Notes.

After Mass, attendees can enjoy a catered, all-you-can-eat barbecue. Entertainment for the afternoon will include live music by Martin & Rose, a local Christian folk band, volleyball, and a variety of games and activities. Young adults are invited to bring their children as well.

"This event marks the first time local young adults will get to meet our new Archbishop in an intimate setting, as we gather as a community to share faith, connect with friends, meet new people, and have a great time," said Brian Hyland, Director of Young Adult Ministry.

The cost is $15 before July 26, 2002, and $25 after. Married couples can take $5 off the total price if they register together. For more information, or to register, contact Brian Hyland in the Office of Young Adult Ministry at (973) 497-4502 or by email at hylandbr@rcan.org.

Editor’s Note: Please consider also including this event in your community calendar.
