Archdiocese Schedules Inter-religious Prayer Service in Commemoration of the One Year Anniversary of September 11

Archbishop John J. Myers of Newark will celebrate an inter-religious service to commemorate the one-year anniversary of September 11 on Sunday, September 8, 2002, at 6 pm, at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Newark.

The celebration of Evening Prayer in the Roman Catholic tradition will remember those whose lives were taken, support families still dealing with the loss of loved ones, and gratefully acknowledge those who gave selflessly of themselves in the recovery effort.

Everyone, including members of religions and communions other than Roman Catholic, are cordially invited to this prayer service of remembrance, support, healing, reconciliation, and hope.

Additionally, schools and parishes in the Archdiocese will be holding services throughout the week of September 9. The Archdiocese will provide on its web site -- www.rcan.org -- readings and prayers, past homilies about 9-11, and a series of related links.
