Archbishop Authorizes Special Collection For Victims of Hurricane Floyd (Newark) October 22, 1999 - Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick has authorized a voluntary collection to be taken at all Catholic parishes in the Newark Archdiocese to aid the victims of the massive destruction in New Jersey, North Carolina and other states along the Atlantic Coast caused last month by Hurricane Floyd and its flood waters. The Archbishop also asked that the victims of this disaster be remembered in the General Intercessions at Mass.
