Archdiocese to Honor Catholic Health Care Professionals

Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick will celebrate a special Mass for Catholic health care professionals in the Archdiocese of Newark at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Sunday, October 26, 1997.

The Mass will honor Catholic physicians, nurses, and health care administrators for their dedication to the Catholic mission and their commitment to providing adequate health care to people in the Archdiocese of Newark. Archbishop McCarrick will present medals of achievement to individuals who have displayed extraordinary care and skill in their field.

"This will be an occasion to thank all those engaged in the health care apostulate, and to ask for God's continued blessing on their dedicated efforts," said Archbishop McCarrick. "By honoring these individuals we recognize in a special way the work that they do to preserve the health and spirits of all those whose lives they touch every day."

The Archbishop said he is aware that there are many Catholic physicians, nurses and health care personnel who labor in non-Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese and beyond its borders. "We wish to extend an invitation to all since they are all members of the Catholic Community of the Archdiocese of Newark," he said.
