Archdiocese
to Honor Catholic Health Care Professionals
Archbishop
Theodore E. McCarrick will honor Catholic health care professionals
during a noon Mass on Sunday, November 8, 1998, in the Archdiocese
of Newark at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
Catholic
physicians, nurses, and health care administrators from Bergen,
Essex, Hudson and Union Counties will receive the Jubilee Medal
Pro Meritis for their dedication to the Catholic mission and their
commitment to providing adequate health care to people in the Archdiocese
of Newark. Archbishop McCarrick will present the medals of achievement
to individuals who have displayed extraordinary care and skill in
their field.
"This
will be an occasion to join in prayer and thanksgiving for the wonderful
work of all those engaged in the health care apostolate and to beg
God's continued blessing on their dedicated efforts," Archbishop
McCarrick said.
The Archbishop
added that he is aware that there are many Catholic physicians,
nurses and health care personnel who labor in non-Catholic institutions
in the Archdiocese and beyond its borders. "We wish to extend an
invitation to all since they are all members of the Catholic Community
of the Archdiocese of Newark," he said.
A light
reception will be held in the Archdiocesan Center following the
Mass. For more information, call Sister Thomas Mary Salerno at (973)
497-4009.
