Archbishop
Calls on Community for Hurricane Aid for Central America
Archbishop
Theodore E. McCarrick has authorized an emergency voluntary collection
to be taken in all Catholic parishes to assist in relief services
in Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador following the
devastating effects of Hurricane Mitch.
In a letter
sent today to all pastors, Most Reverend Paul G. Bootkoski, Auxiliary
Bishop and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Newark, thanked the
people of Newark for their generosity in the past.
"I am
aware of the various collections taken in our parishes these past
few months in response to the numerous calamities caused by extreme
weather conditions," Bishop Bootkoski said. "Be assured I am grateful
for your continued cooperation and the amazing generosity of your
parishioners."
Anyone
interested in making a donation may do so at any Catholic parish
or may send donations to:
