Honorees for Labor Church Industry Reception Business and labor leaders of the Archdiocese of Newark will come together at the Archbishop's Eighth Annual Labor and Business Recognition Reception to benefit CYO/ Youth and Adult Ministries. The event will be held at the Glenpointe Marriott, in Teaneck, NJ, on January 24, 2000. Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick will recognize business and labor leaders for their commitment to the youth of the Archdiocese. Mr. Joseph M. Sanzari, President of the Joseph Sanzari Construction Corporation, and Mr. John Hibbs, President and Business Manager of Local 472 of the Laborers International Union of North America will be honored. Mr. Sanzari and Mr. Hibbs have cooperated on many projects over the years. Mr. Sanzari is part of the Bishop-Sanzari-Creamer Tri Venture Group that did the reconstruction of the Rt. 4-17 interchange in Paramus last year. Mr. Hibbs and Local 472 were integral to that project. The 120 million dollar project was completed 16 months ahead of schedule. The union force of 80 to 100 men worked shifts of ten hour days to complete the work. The intersection is one of the busiest in the United States, carrying 280,000 vehicles a day. In commenting on this year's honorees, Msgr. John J. Gilchrist, Archdiocesan representative to labor, said, "We honor Mr. Sanzari and Mr. Hibbs not just for their business ability but because they are true examples of virtue. They are family men who practice virtue on the job as well as at home." The Annual Labor and Business Recognition Reception was created by the Archbishop to raise money to help support the CYO/ Youth and Young Adult Ministries. The ministries have provided positive role models, enhanced family values, and inspired self-reliance and self esteem for youths throughout the Archdiocese. Programs include summer camps, scouting programs, concerts, organized sports, programs for the disabled and leadership and peer training. |
