Christmas Spirit Glows within the Archdiocese of Newark
The Christmas Season will be celebrated with pageants, carol sings, and special Masses throughout the four counties in the Archdiocese of Newark- Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union. The Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, 89 Ridge St., Newark, will once again glow with the Christmas Spirit at the 32nd annual Candlelight Carol Sing, Tuesday, December 10, at 8 p.m.

A tradition for 32 years, the choir, conducted by Cathedral Director of Music Ministry John J. Miller, will sing favored Christmas hymns, along with traditional Christmas Carols. The Cathedral will be set aglow with candlelight when over 2,000 attendees join in the traditional performance of Silent Night. The ambiance of candlelight and seasonal decor along with the Cathedral Choir, organ, brass, percussion and thousands of participants combine to create a heartwarming experience.

The doors open at 7 p.m., and admission is free, but a free-will offering will be accepted to help defray the cost of the performance. For more information on the Candlelight Carol Sing, call the Cathedral Music Office at (973) 484-2400.
