Statement by The Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, on the Resignation of Bernard Cardinal Law
It is truly sad that Cardinal Law’s life of generous service to the Church as Archbishop of Boston is ending in such a way, but many see this as an important step for the Church to restore trust among her people. We wish him well and know that he will find ways to continue to support the Church through prayer and other appropriate acts.

We pray for Bishop Richard Lennon as he assumes responsibility for the Church of Boston in the days ahead. We ask all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Newark to add their prayers to those of the people of Boston for true healing to begin.
