Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick's 1998 Christmas Message "On this Christmas day I pray that the Lord will bring peace and harmony to your life and the lives of your friends and neighbors. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, let us not forget why He came among us. The promise of salvation is as new today as it was almost two thousand years ago. How good it would be if we would all take a few moments to reflect on this, the most precious gift we could possibly receive. Then we could promise to share the Good News of salvation with others in the New Year. What better gift could we give to the Lord and to all our sisters and brothers in His one human family on His birthday. On Christmas day, as every day, you can be sure that I will pray for you and your loved ones."
