Archbishop to Celebrate Last Mass of the Millennium Archbishop Theodore E. McCarrick will celebrate the last Mass of the Millennium at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, December 31, 1999, at 11 p.m. At this Mass, he will lead the congregation in welcoming the Great Jubilee Year 2000 with the singing of Te Deum, a traditional hymn of praise and thanksgiving. In his Pastoral letter, Tertio Millennio Adveniente, Pope John Paul II has called upon the Catholic Church and its members to make the Great Jubilee Year 2000 a time to renew faith. Through the Mass on December 31, the faithful of the Catholic Church in Newark will be invited to partake in this significant celebration in the mother church of the Archdiocese to implore God's blessings at the beginning of this new era of human history. This celebration is open to everyone who would like to attend. The Mass will be bilingual, celebrated in both English and Spanish.
