Statement by The Most Reverend John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, on the Death of The Most Reverend Vincent deP. Breen, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Metuchen The Church of Newark mourns deeply the passing of our brother, Bishop Vincent De Paul Breen. As a priest committed to Catholic education, formation in the faith and respect for life at all stages, Vincent De Paul Breen was a true shepherd to our brothers and sisters of the Church of Metuchen. As Christians prepare for the Easter celebration in a few weeks, the sadness that we feel over our brother Vincent’s passing will, we hope, be tempered through our belief in the promise of his new life with our Risen Lord.
