Archdiocese of Newark Calls on Parishes for Aid For Tsunami Relief
Most Rev. John J. Myers, Archbishop of Newark, has authorized an emergency voluntary collection to be taken at all Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Newark to assist in relief services in the aftermath of the tsunami along the Asian coastline.

In his letter announcing the collection to the parishes, V. Rev. Robert Emery, Vicar General, Moderator of the Curia and Chancellor of the Archdiocese, wrote, “During this time of tragedy it is important to come together in prayer for our brothers and sisters throughout Asia and Africa. For them this is sadness beyond comprehension. May our prayers and sacrifices express our Christ-like care and compassion during this holy Season when the Son of God humbled himself to come into our midst.”
