The mission of the Department of Shared Responsibility, in keeping with the 1994 Archdiocesan Synod, is to enable Parish Pastoral Council and Deanery Council members to assume a leadership role in the Ministry of Shared Responsibility.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE DEPARTMENT
That through baptism all are called to share in the mission and ministry of the Church.
That the laity be enabled and empowered to use their gifts in collaboration with the ordained ministers in promoting the mission of the Church in their respective parishes.
That this requires the availability of good formation opportunities for growth and development in ecclesiology, spirituality and leadership skills.
That our agenda (plans, programs, presence) be developed in keeping with the priorities of the Synod, local tradition, and the needs and leadership within each parish and deanery.
That
we support pastors and pastoral staffs and work with the laity to
develop a mutuality and sharing style that allows each to accept
the gifts and contribution of the other.
WORKSHOPS OFFERED FOR PARISH PASTORAL COUNCILS
COUNCIL DEVELOPMENTThis workshop is a "how to do it" for Council members. The presentation will focus on the Guidelines for Parish Pastoral Councils and highlight the purpose, role and style of Pastoral Councils.
MISSION STATEMENT
This workshop will engage participants in reflection on their specific identity and purpose as a parish. A mission statement gives direction for all short and long-range planning.
SELECTION PROCESS
A workshop designed for choosing leadership through a prayerful discernment process as an alternative to the "popular" election of members.
GIFTEDNESS
As baptized Christians, we are called and gifted for ministry. This workshop is intended to assist Council in recognizing, acknowledging and using their particular gifts in the home, church and community.
MINISTRY
Designed to assist parishioners in understanding the Gospel concept of ministry, this workshop will focus on the cluster approach to ministry : Word, Worship, Community Building, and Service.
RETREAT EXPERIENCES
Retreats are tailored to meet the needs of individual parishes and Councils.
