The Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children (SFIC) will have a piece of “The Rock” in attendance when it hosts its 35th Annual Gala on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at The Venetian in Garfield, NJ. Cardinal Joseph W. On Friday, February 23, the Archdiocese received word that a federal judge had ruled against it in a suit challenging the validity of a New Jersey law banning religious institutions from selling inscription rights on monuments for parishioners buried in its cemeteries. The deadline for the Archdiocese to appeal this decision was set for Monday, March 26. We continue to believe that the law is unjust.

The Knights of Columbus, the largest Catholic fraternal order in the world, has announced a membership initiative that allows eligible Catholic men to join the organization online. The program is being rolled out in select states and will be introduced nationally in July.

Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, today called on the 1.5 million faithful of the Archdiocese of Newark to join a national effort by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and dioceses across the country to urge members of Congress to secure legislative protection for Dreamers, the nearly 2 million young people across the country affected by the potential ending of the executive branch protection called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

The daylong prayerful event is expected to attract thousands of attendees seeking to strengthen their spiritual faith, and engage in fellowship. All men from the Archdiocese of Newark, as well as neighboring Dioceses, are invited to attend.
