Dynamic speakers and spiritual fellowship are on tap for the ninth annual Catholic Men’s Conference on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Seton Hall University hosted by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark. The daylong prayerful event is expected to attract thousands of attendees seeking to strengthen their spiritual faith and engage in fellowship.
This year, the celebration of the Feast of St. Patrick -- March 17, 2017 -- falls on the Friday of the Second Week of Lent. After due consideration of a number of requests, I dispense the people of the Archdiocese of Newark from the obligation to abstain from meat on Friday, March 17, 2017.

I understand the desire for every American to be assured of safe borders and freedom from terrorism. The federal government should continue a prudent policy aimed at protecting citizens. I also understand and heed the call of God, who through Moses told the people of Israel: “You shall not oppress an alien; you well know how it feels to be an alien, since you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt” (Ex 23:9).

His Eminence, Joseph William Cardinal Tobin, C.Ss.R., was installed as the Sixth Archbishop of Newark before an overflow crowd at Newark’s Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, at a Mass attended by six Roman Catholic cardinals and some 60 archbishops and bishops from throughout the country.
