On Friday, April 29, the faithful of the Archdiocese of Newark will celebrate a special Mass of Thanks and Farewell at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark for The Most Reverend Bernard A. Hebda, whom Pope Francis appointed as the Ninth Archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Students from Queen of Peace High School and Elementary School in North Arlington celebrated Earth Day at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum. Forty-three students planted new trees to commemorate the occasion and recited prayers to honor those interred at the cemetery.

On Friday, April 8, 2016, Pope Francis released his Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, or “The Joy of Love.” Pope Francis issued Amoris Laetitia in response to both the Third Extraordinary and the Fourteenth Ordinary General Assemblies of the Synod of Bishops in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Pope Francis formally announced Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda’s appointment as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Archbishop Hebda has been serving as Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese since June 15, 2015.

The Archdiocese of Newark must shut down its cemetery inscription-rights program due to a law that goes into effect today that makes it illegal for all religious cemeteries in New Jersey to sell headstones or monuments to its parishioners.

The Archdiocese of Newark is collecting new and gently used communion outfits for its inner city parishes, families in need, and any parishioner in need of one for their child. First Communion is a special day for families, and the archdiocese wants to help make sure financial hardship doesn't stand in the way.

The Men’s Commission of the Archdiocese of Newark invites all men to the 2016 Catholic Men’s Conference on Saturday, March 5 at Seton Hall University. All men are encouraged to participate in this exciting annual event, which features inspirational talks in both Spanish and English.
