Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R. has appointed Maria Margiotta as Acting Director of the Office of Communications and Public Relations of the Archdiocese of Newark, effective January 1, 2019. Margiotta will succeed Jim Goodness, who will retire as of December 31, 2018. Margiotta is an accomplished marketing communications professional and brings more than 25 years of experience in the corporate and non-profit sector to her new role.

The Roman Catholic Bishops of New Jersey announced today their decision to retain Kenneth R. Feinberg and Camille Biros to design, implement and administer a statewide Victims Compensation Program for the submission, evaluation, and settlement of individual claims of sexual abuse of a minor. The Program would operate independently from any of the participating dioceses.

Some 22 months after a devastating and fatal fire in Union City on March 4, 2017, the Catholic community of Ss. Joseph and Michael Parish in Union City will celebrate its first Mass in a completely rebuilt church building. Cardinal Joseph William Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, will consecrate the altar and rededicate the church at an inaugural Mass set to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15.

Cardinal Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Newark, has announced that representatives of the New Jersey Catholic Conference will meet with Kenneth Feinberg and Camille Biros on Tuesday, December 11 to plan the implementation of the Victim Compensation Program to be funded by the five Catholic dioceses of New Jersey.
